Solutions-oriented coverage of early education, wildfire response and other issues was honored in the Society of Professional Journalists’ Top of the Rockies Excellence in Journalism competition. The winning stories were produced by reporters at news outlets including EdSurge, Source New Mexico/ProPublica, Colorado Springs Gazette and Boulder Reporting Lab. The annual contest celebrates the work of reporters in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming, and has included a category for Best Solutions Journalism since 2018.
